Support The Ross for future generations by making a gift through your will, donor advised fund, or qualified retirement account.

The Ross would not exist today without the generous support of private donors like you!

Making a lasting impact with a gift in your will

We are grateful for the gifts you have made to further the mission of the Friends of The Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center. Did you know you can also make sure your support continues for future generations?

Including the Friends of The Ross Foundation in your will or trust is one of the most meaningful contributions you can make.

You may also consider:

  • Granting a gift to the Friends of The Ross through your Donor Advised Fund (DAF)
  • Sharing a gift with the Friends of The Ross from your Qualified Retirement Account or IRA
  • Making a gift to the University of Nebraska Foundation in support of The Ross

By supporting the future of the Friends of The Ross, with one or more of these meaningful gifts, you are helping create a strong culture of education, art, and entertaining experiences through film in our community.

You are in no way obligated to do so, but we hope you will let us know if you have included a gift for the Friends of The Ross in your will.

To include the Friends of The Ross in your estate plans, please use the name:

The mission of the Friends of The Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center is to promote and support The Ross through development of constituencies, financial resources, collaboration, and awareness of the medium of film as an artistic, educational, and entertaining experience.

What we know today as The Ross began with the late Norman A. Geske, original director of the Sheldon Museum of Art, who established a film exhibition program within the University in 1964. This program later became the Sheldon Film Theater when Danny Lee Ladely became director in 1973.

In 1990, Mary Riepma Ross established a $3.5 million trust with the University of Nebraska Foundation for the purpose of building what would become The Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center, named in recognition of her generous gift.

In 2013, Mrs. Ross donated $9.5 million to the University of Nebraska Foundation through her estate to create a permanent endowment for the theater. Interest generated by this endowment is utilized to defray a substantial amount of operational expenses.

In 2002, the Friends of The Ross established the Friends of The Ross Foundation. The Foundation provides funding for the Norman A. Geske Cinema Showcase, which brings visiting moviemakers and artists to Lincoln, as well as providing funding for operating costs and updating equipment and facilities. This fund is dependent upon generous donors who value the mission of The Ross and the Friends of The Ross.
