Free Screening and Q&A: THE LOST KING
MAR 2 → MAR 29, 2026

Sunday, March 29 @ 1:00 p.m.

The Archaeological Institute of America (Lincoln-Omaha Society), UNL’s School of Art, Art History, & Design, and UNL’s Medieval and Renaissance Studies Program present a free screening of THE LOST KING followed by a special Q&A with Philippa Langley. Tickets available at the Ross Box Office.

The Lost King tells the story of how Philippa Langley, an amateur historian, unlocked clues hidden lost documents and convinced British archaeologists that the body of King Richard III, the last king of the Plantagenet dynasty, was buried under a parking lot in the center of Leicester. In 2012, within hours of the excavation commencing, the body of an individual was indeed discovered and analysis verified that the skeletal remains were those belonging to Richard. For her efforts in finding the king’s remains, Ms. Langley was awarded the MBE by the Queen, and Richard’s remains were permanently interred within Leicester Cathedral. Following the screening, Philippa Langley will speak via Zoom to the audience about the discovery and her latest research regarding the “Princes in the Tower,” also a medieval mystery.

ABOUT PHILIPPA LANGLEY

Bestselling author, historian and award-winning producer Philippa Langley undertakes forensic, evidence-based research projects which examine the life and times of King Richard III of England (1452-1485).

Philippa first took the world by storm in 2012 when she discovered the remains of Richard III beneath a car park in Leicester through her original Looking For Richard Project. The discovery and reburial of King Richard was watched by an estimated global audience of over 366 million.

In 2015/16 she launched The Missing Princes Project, an international cold-case investigation into the apparent disappearance of the ‘Princes in the Tower’ in the summer of 1483. Her project uncovered no evidence for death during King Richard’s reign, but innumerable proofs of life, solving the mystery.

In 2015, she was made an MBE by HM the Queen at Buckingham Palace. In 2022, The Lost King film (dir. Sir Stephen Frears) told Philippa’s remarkable story. Philippa is the author of The Lost King: The Search for Richard III (first published as The King’s Grave) and The Princes in the Tower: How History’s Greatest Cold Case Was Solved.
