ABOUT THE FRIENDS

The Friends of The Ross is the non-profit arm of The Ross Media Arts Center, and Lincoln’s foremost community of movie lovers. Since 1981, the Friends of The Ross have kept the silver screen glowing with the very best in cinema, and promoted film culture in our community. In recent years, generous support from the Friends has made it possible to run beloved film series like the annual Fright Fest, our summertime Family Film Fest, and our ongoing Native American Film Series.

The Friends also sponsor the Norman A. Geske Cinema Showcase, which brings working filmmakers to Lincoln—including directors, screenwriters, actors, cinematographers, producers, and composers—where they can showcase their work and draw our community a little closer to the world of cinema. The Geske Cinema Showcase has brought over 275 guests in the last 50 years, including Oscar® winners Alexander Payne, Chloe Zhao, and Robert Wagner, as well as fan favorites like John Waters, Danny Elfman, and Gale Ann Hurd.
