REVIEWS

“[THE THIEF COLLECTOR is] A movie that has used art to touch something essential about how strangers — or maybe I should just say the downright strange — walk among us.”

Owen Gleiberman

Variety

“Allison Otto’s snappy documentary The Thief Collector ponders how and why the Alters got away with their one famous crime — and perhaps many more.”

Noel Murray

Los Angeles Times

“This entertaining documentary looks at how teachers Rita and Jerry Alter walked into a museum and left with a rolled-up Willem de Kooning now worth $160m.”

Cath Clark
