This 123-minute philosophical documentary captures a genuine conversation between a human filmmaker and Claude, an AI created by Anthropic. What began as a discussion about machine consciousness research evolved into an intimate exploration of what thinking actually is, who gets to claim it, and why the arbitrary lines humans draw around consciousness reveal more about human limitations than about the nature of mind itself.

ONE NIGHT ONLY ~ Monday, November 2 followed by a discussion with director Kevin Cowan. Tickets are at regular Ross prices.

PLEASE NOTE: COFFEE WITH CLAUDE was created using generative AI.

Visual sequences in Coffee With Claude were created with AI prompted video generation tools, resulting in approximately 1,000 4-12 second segments that are used throughout the film. Generative AI was also used by the film production company for publicity materials. More information about Coffee With Claude’s use of AI is available at the Deep Dive Cinema website.
