Reviews

“A movie fit for any era, so long as there are audiences out there eager to be swept off their feet by a director bold enough to take the lead.”

Barry Hertz

Globe and Mail

“There’s much to enjoy about this sexy, compassionate valentine to movies, dancing and women who have weathered hard times but find a special, fantastical place they can call their own out on that dance floor — with or without a partner.”

Randy Myers

San Jose Mercury News

“Watching [Ha-Chan, Shake Your Booty!] is a pleasure; Wladyka, who made “Ha-Chan, Shake Your Booty!” as a tribute to his ballroom-dancing mother, effortlessly combines a gentle exploration of heartbreak with a whimsical tribute to those who love dance.”

Moira MacDonald

Seattle Times

“You’ll laugh. You’ll cringe. You’ll cry. And I suspect you’ll love Ha-Chan, Shake Your Booty!”

Kristy Puchko

Mashable

“Josef Kubota Wladyka’s third feature film is a playful and whimsical confection, a deft blend of escapist kitsch and the real emotional heft that Kikuchi brings to the role.”
