Film Information

A father (Sergi López) and his son arrive at a rave deep in the mountains of southern Morocco. They are searching for Mar — daughter and sister — who vanished months ago at one of these endless, sleepless parties. Surrounded by electronic music and a raw, unfamiliar sense of freedom, they hand out her photo again and again. Hope is fading, but they push through and follow a group of ravers heading to one last party in the desert. As they venture deeper into the burning wilderness, the journey forces them to confront their own limits.

From writer-director Oliver Laxe (Fire Will Come, Mimosas) and winner of the Jury Prize at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, SIRĀT marks the international breakout of an uncompromising visionary whose latest work taps into the tumultuous and terrifying times we are living through. A hero’s journey turned inward, exploring themes of the individual versus the collective during times of unbearable tension and turmoil, Sirāt embraces transcendence, offering hope, connection and perseverance amid our shattering darkness.

Reviews

“Sirāt is not for everyone. But it is the sort of overwhelming cinematic experience and undeniable work of sound and vision that could be life-changing for those ready to receive it.”

David Fear
Rolling Stone

“An unforgettable portrait of the search for unity at the edge, and end, of the world.”

Nick Schager
The Daily Beast

“It’s the kind of film that Cannes attendees from far and wide come to the festival for: sui generis and evading any classification, emanating from a wholly personal vision of cinema while not resisting galvanizing, and sometimes crowd-pleasing, pleasures.”
